The Mandalorian S3 season finale predictions

Season 3 of The Mandalorian has been a fantastic ride, but I'm dreading that they'll rip my heart out in the season finale.

1. Worst fear - that Bo-Katan will die.

All season, I've been afraid that the show will turn her into an antagonist or kill her off. I don't want her to be a stepping stone on Din's journey to becoming Mand'alor or whatever.

She's achieved her goal of unifying the remaining Mandalorians. She's finally obtained the Darksaber. (Again.) She's even seen the Mythosaur. But I've seen too much "redemption equals death" to feel comfortable right now. She's wiped the red from her ledger, but I remember what happened to the last woman who did that too.

"Your song is not yet written." I'd love to see that as a promise that Bo-Katan's journey is still ongoing. I know it would be foolish to waste a character as complex and fascinating as Bo-Katan. I know it would be foolish to waste an actor as accomplished and beloved as Katee Sackhoff.

Then again, I spent half of The Book of Boba Fett absolutely sure that the Tuskens were going to come back and save the day, because that was the obvious story arc. Who was the fool then?

2. Bold hope - that Din gets forcibly turned by the Imperials, and cue lots of angst as everyone tries to deal.

No, wait, listen. I obviously want Din to be saved in the end. But this would shake things up in a big way. If the Imperials used the mindflayer to brainwash Din into believing in the Empire, that would be a brutally effective propaganda move and a huge blow to morale, because Din has gained the loyalty and trust of so many friends and allies. And what would Grogu do, if his dad told him to come over and join him? Would he be able to understand what's going on? Would he have the strength to refuse to give in, to either threats or promises?

Season 2 ended with Din and Grogu parting ways, and the assumption that Grogu would be gone for a while and Din would be alone. What if Season 3 ended with the opposite? Din is in Imperial hands, and Grogu is stuck on his own. (Or most likely, with Bo-Katan and the other Mandalorians. Accidental Baby Acquisition, Part 2.)

3. Wild speculation - that the Armourer finally reveals her identity, and she is Satine.

How? I don't know. I don't care. But it's one of the most interesting options of all the possibilities. It would certainly throw a grenade into the fragile alliance that the Mandalorians have achieved. She is definitely someone with the pull to make a rival claim for the leadership.

And there's been such an odd absence of any mention of Satine at all - not as Bo-Katan's sister, not as the former ruler of Mandalore - that it almost seems like an intentional avoidance of foreshadowing.

Anyway. Whatever happens, I hope it will be a satisfying episode, because it's going to be a hell of a long wait until the next one.

(Unless Din and Grogu suddenly show up in Ahsoka.)
