It's been a while since I read the book thoroughly (I usually just pick it up to browse the A/C passages), but it's very possible a comment was intended. Neither of authors are really shy about pointing out that kind of thing.

I've been reading a surprising amount of Good Omens fanfic recently. I can't get enough good Aziraphale/Crowley, especially stuff written like the book - slightly slashy gen. I don't really think of it as one of my fandoms, but I love the fic.
