1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?

Watched a show at the Takarazuka Grand Theatre. Went to a Worldcon in Australia. Published a zine. Performed as a bridesmaid at a wedding. Gave away my heart in an envelope.

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

Some, and definitely. You know what, I'm getting better at this!

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

No.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Yes.

5. What countries did you visit?

Japan! Which will probably be my last overseas trip for a while. I've been lucky enough to experience Japan in three seasons now. Someday, I'll go back, for the maple leaves.

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?

The confidence and willpower to prioritise my writing.

7. What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

Too many to list. This has been a year with many stars in the sky.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Finishing six stories. This is a record for me. And I am damn well pleased with it.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Not finishing a major work.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Fortunately, no.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

My couch. Reclining seats for the win! Also possibly my long arm stapler. There is such power in knowing you can now make booklets.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

The three independents who made the federal government.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

Politicians who demonised asylum seekers. I thought we were over this. But the fight goes on.

14. Where did most of your money go?

The mortgage.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Japan! Worldcon! Yuletide!

16. What song will always remind you of 2010?

How Far We've Come by Matchbox 20. For a song about the end of the world, it is surprising joyous.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. happier or sadder? Happier. My life this year has been blessed with people and stories.
ii. thinner or fatter? Thinner. I seem to be a lazier cook than I expected.
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer. But still happier.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Writing.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Surfing the net.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?

With family.

21. Did you fall in love in 2010?

No comment.

22. How many one-night stands?

Ditto.

23. What was your favorite TV program?

Avatar: The Last Airbender. It really is that good, people!

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

No, still the usual suspects, mostly relating to political or politicised issues.

25. What was the best book you read?

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R Covey.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?

That Hikara Utada has a second single collection out.

27. What did you want and get?

Lots of moments of happiness.

28. What was your favorite film of this year?

12 Angry Men. It's a classic for a reason!

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

I had dinner with the family. I was a year older. XD

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Finishing a major work. Also, if the Eleventh Doctor had ditched Amy and Rory and gone off with River Song and Captain Jack instead.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?

Seriously needing an overhaul.

32. What kept you sane?

As always, friends and family.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

My Sunday nights still belong to John Safran and Father Bob.

34. What political issue stirred you the most?

Asylum seekers.

35. Who did you miss?

Everyone came back! (Almost.) My world brims full with love right now.

36. Who was the best new person you met?

My best friend's baby girl. Plus the LJ friends I got to meet in person for the first time at Worldcon.

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010:

Life is too short to give a damn what people think. You have one shot and you owe the world your true self.
