Last month, I went down to Melbourne to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Apparently it's only the third city in the world to get the play, after London and New York. I can see why it's not very portable - the staging must require a load of special sets, and the Princess Theatre was renovated to make it possible.

I really loved the script when I read it, and it was really cool to see it come to life on stage.

One of my favourite moments was the flashback when Hagrid tells eleven year old Harry:

"Harry - you're a wizard - you changed everything.
You're the most famous wizard in the whole world."

That line is from the very first book. Hearing it now gave me chills.

Yes, and yes, and yes.

So a couple of weekends ago, I went to Supanova in Sydney. It was a whirlwind of a day, catching up with friends and checking out panels and browsing the stalls.

It's been a long time coming, but I finally got to see it. The story is complete.

It's really rather strange not to have any more Harry Potter movies to look forward to.

I think we lucked out in this timezone - a 9 AM local release for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows means being able to wake up refreshed and spend the whole day reading, which basically sums up my yesterday.

I thought about posting something last night, after I finished, but my head was still too full.

No spoilers, just reactions, but cut for those who care about these things )

Before it was released, I wasn't as psyched about this movie as I could have been, considering that Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite HP book. I suspect that the relatively lacklustre second movie had something to do with it. Fortunately, the third movie is both very watchable and a pretty good adaptation of the book.

Sig spotted on a messageboard:

If you're in jail, a good friend would bail you out. Your best friend would be sitting next to you saying: "Damn that was fun..."

Why do I think of Sirius and James when I read this?

(Remus, I'm guessing, would be the one bailing them out...)

Just updated Gravitation Fan Station with a new character profile.

Now, I plan to lock myself in my room with Order of the Phoenix.

Don't expect to see me online tonight. :)

I'm here because the RO servers are down and I can't play. Stupid hackers. I was playing all day yesterday and went up ten levels. If Gravity does another rollback, I'm going to cry.

Am wavering on the brink of buying Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I was originally going to wait - I never buy hardbacks, except secondhand - but I desperately don't want to be spoiled before I read it. There are all sorts of hints flying around about a particular major plot point, and they're getting more and more specific. I judge it's only a matter of time before somebody blurts it out and ruins it for me.

Argh. I think I'll sleep on it.
