The year in review7. What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Too many to list. This has been a year with many stars in the sky.
It's kind of painful to look back on how happy 2010 was. The past few years have been a gruelling time for the world. I can't even think about 2020 yet, even though I know I've been relatively lucky.
Some of the more notable questions and answers:
5. What countries did you visit? - Japan! Which will probably be my last overseas trip for a while. I've been lucky enough to experience Japan in three seasons now. Someday, I'll go back, for the maple leaves.- That turned out to be my last trip to Japan so far. Still hoping to see the maple leaves someday. I want to go to Hokkaido! Largely inspired by the delicious food in
Silver Spoon and, er,
Golden Kamuy.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of? - Writing.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of? - Surfing the net.- Nooooo. These are the same answers I've been giving every year. When will I learn?!
35. Who did you miss? - Everyone came back! (Almost.) My world brims full with love right now.- In my 20s, many of my friends went overseas on working holidays. In my 30s, most of them returned home. A lot of happy reunions.
36. Who was the best new person you met? - My best friend's baby girl. Plus the LJ friends I got to meet in person for the first time at Worldcon.- That baby girl is ten years old now! Kids really do highlight the passage of time. Many of those LJ friends have drifted away from being active in fandom, but I remember the good times fondly.
37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010. - Life is too short to give a damn what people think. You have one shot and you owe the world your true self.- Well, that was a bit dramatic. I feel like I'm a bit more reserved now than I was at that moment, and I'm probably choosier about when to engage and what battles to fight. But yeah, it's good to be reminded that worrying about what other people think, is not the best use of our precious time.
This is the last of my entries in the 10/10/10 Project! It's been interesting to do this retrospective.
