Has it really been a full year since the last time I posted one of these?
1. What did you do in 2015 that you'd never done before?
Had a novella published. Attended an ice hockey game.
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
My productivity went downhill this year. I plan for next year to be better.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5. What countries did you visit?
None, just took one trip interstate.
6. What would you like to have in 2016 that you lacked in 2015?
Renewed passion for writing. Better strategy for finishing stories.
7. What date from 2015 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Probably certain of the major news events. Also the day we were all able to say "former Prime Minister Tony Abbott".
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting my first novella published. Woot!
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not getting the novel ready to submit.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I've been fairly lucky this year.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
New display cabinet and bookshelf.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
The Hugo voters.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
The federal government.
14. Where did most of your money go?
The mortgage.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Yuletide!
16. What song will always remind you of 2015?
The Hamilton Mixtape by Lin-Manual Miranda.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Less bubbling excitement, more measured content.
ii. thinner or fatter? Probably about the same.
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer but happier.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Internet.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
With family.
21. What was your favorite TV program?
Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I can watch and rewatch episodes like they were candy.
22. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No. But I still get incandescent rage at certain politicians and their stupidity and callousness.
23. What was the best book you read?
It's been an excellent year for books. I'll make a full post later, but some highlights were A Slip of the Keyboard by Terry Pratchett, Uprooted by Naomi Novik, Captive Prince by CS Pacat, The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison, and The Singing Bones by Shaun Tan.

Hamilton! (The world will never be the same...)
25. What did you want and get?
To spend less time at work and have more hours free for writing.

Cake with family. Older but wiser.
28. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Being able to send out the novel.
29. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2015?

As always, friends and family.

John Oliver is very compelling.
32. What political issue stirred you the most?
The treatment of refugees. The reality of climate change.
33. Who did you miss?
Everyone during the heyday of LiveJournal.
34. Who was the best new person you met?
See answer 3.
35. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2015:
Sometimes you just have to stop worrying about what other people think.
Sometimes you have to be the change for change to happen.
36. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
The first:
When you got skin in the game, you stay in the game,
But you don't get a win unless you play in the game.
Oh, you get love for it. You get hate for it.
You get nothing if you wait for it, wait for it, wait!
The second:
And when my time is up,
have I done enough?
Will they tell my story?
Happy New Year, and see you all in 2016!
