Wow, what an electric episode. Fantastic in so many ways. But I admit my first reaction in the first ten minutes was "Ahhhhhhh! Jeffrey Combs!" I loved him in Deep Space Nine as Weyoun, and then he kept popping up in so many other science fiction shows. It was a real delight to see him show up here.
* Jeffrey Combs does intensity and anguish so well. That scene when Harriman Gray goes to confront Ivanova, and delivers that feverish confession of his dream to join Earth Force and his deflection into the Psi-Corps, and Ivanova's utter loathing and rejection of everything he represents - wow. Just two amazing actors bringing it. Also loved their second confrontation, when there was a bit of rapport over his condemnation of the colonel he serves, before things went downhill again. A fantastic episode for Ivanova generally. And I loved that Gray chose to do right in the end.
* I guess Sinclair's sleight of hand in "By Any Means Necessary" did catch up with him. Or at least left an opening for his enemies to target. I loved seeing him take a principled stand, and back his people, and show his calm, knowledge, and resourcefulness.
* I loved that we got to see Sinclair, Ivanova, and Garibaldi really lay it on the line for each other and show how great they are as a team.
* I loved everything about Lennier helping Garibaldi fix up the motorcycle. He was so earnest and dedicated! And Garibaldi was so patient and kind, even with everything else going on. I loved them going for a ride together at the end. A lovely grace note to an otherwise intense episode.
