Remixing the era

I was cheering for Stosur, of course, but they both played brilliantly, and Schiavone played just that bit better, when it counted, and that's what makes the difference. And I can't resent her even a little because she just looked so *joyful* when she won.
As the commentators said, in an era so dominated by the Williams sisters, it's quite interesting to witness the emergence of two new finalists. But for me the most interesting part is that they were both ready to mix it up at the net, instead of simply playing a baseline game like most. Perhaps this is because they both regularly play doubles and have that kind of variety in their arsenal. It reminds me of what I liked about Rafter's game, and I could watch a lot more of this kind of tennis.
