WOO FEDAL FINAL

meteordustThis will be the first grand slam final they have played together in two years, since the Australian Open in January 2009, when I started watching the tennis again.
I was keen to watch the semifinals in any case, what with the top four seeds all making it in for the first time in half a decade, promising some fascinating showdowns. But stupid free to air TV does not show the French Open here anymore, so I tried, for the first time, to watch an internet livestream. It was, as expected, chunkers on my slow wireless connection, but I managed to get some picture and sound and scores. (Woo, 21st century! Screw you, Fox Sports!)
So I watched the first set of Nadal vs Murray on livestream, and then discovered the amazing Radio Roland Garros, the audio broadcast on the official website. I never would have imagined that you could have effective radio commentary of a tennis match, but it was brilliant. And while it is awesomely futuristic to be able to sit in front of a computer and watch a live sporting event on the other side of the world, it is even better, when it's past midnight and wintry cold, to be able to snuggle under the doona with eyes shut and still follow the match as it unfolds.
I crawled back out again to watch the livestream for the first set of Federer vs Djokovic, but when that finished, it was 3:30 AM and the lure of sleep was too powerful. I woke to the results this morning. It was great to see that both matches were hard fought, but the final is what I am looking forward to now.
