The annual roundup. How is it NYE already?
1. What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
Visited Perth. Attended Swancon. Visited the Great Barrier Reef. Learned to snorkel. Finished the first draft of a novel.
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Some hits and some misses. Hope springs eternal!
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5. What countries did you visit?
None. Sadly.
6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
More discipline in pursuing my goals and maintaining good habits.
7. What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Lots of good moments, but none that stand above the rest.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Finishing the first draft of a novel. Finishing seven other stories.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not finishing the final draft of a novel.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Just the usual.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My desk lamp. Proper illumination makes such a difference!
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Everyone trying to change the world to make it a better place.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
People who demonise asylum seekers. People who deny climate change. It's almost 2012. We should be over this already.
14. Where did most of your money go?
The mortgage.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Travel! Cards! Yuletide!
16. What song will always remind you of 2011?
Rolling in the Deep by Adele.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Probably about the same.
ii. thinner or fatter? Hopefully about the same.
iii. richer or poorer? I don't even know anymore.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing. Seeing my friends. Being with family.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Surfing the net.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
With family.
21. Did you fall in love in 2011?
No comment.

Ditto.

Ugly Betty. That final season was magic.
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No, still the usual suspects, mostly relating to political or politicised issues. Which was my answer last year.

The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff.
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Adele.
27. What did you want and get?
To see Julius Caesar live on stage at last.
28. What was your favorite film of this year?
X-Men: First Class. Just because it was the movie that relaunched a fandom.
29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I had dinner with the family. I was a year older. XD
30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Getting those Davis Cup tickets. Oh well.

In need of an overhaul.

As always, friends and family.

James McAvoy. If only he would make less depressing movies.
