The year is 2025. I am still slowly making my way through Babylon 5.

* So this is Bester! No wonder nobody likes him or the Psi-Corps.

* I feel like the reveal about the Psi-Corps pulling the strings of government is (1) totally unsurprising to me and (2) something Sinclair and Co should be more alarmed about?

* Jason Ironheart's story gives me vibes of Terrence Cee from Ethan of Athos by Lois McMaster Bujold. I guess how militaries and governments would use psychics is depressingly predictable.

* The bit about telekinetic assassins who can manipulate small objects (like pinching shut the carotid artery) sounded very familiar. Then I realised it was from the Rising Stars comics - by J Michael Straczynski.

* Star Trek: Lower Decks had a point about people ascending to a higher plane as energy beings. It really does happen all the time!

* Catherine continues to survive, yay! Though she had a close call. My favourite part of this episode was her encounter with the mysterious alien entity at Sigma 957, and G'Kar's speech to her afterwards:

G'Kar: "There are things in the universe billions of years older than either of our races. They are vast. Timeless. And if they are aware of us at all, it is as little more than ants, and we have as much chance of communicating with them as an ant has with us. We know. We've tried. And we've learned that we can either stay out from underfoot, or be stepped on."

Catherine: "That's it? That's all you know?"

G'Kar: "Yes. They are a mystery. And I am both terrified and reassured to know that there are still wonders in the universe. That we have not yet explained everything. Whatever they are, Ms Sakai, they walk near Sigma 957, and they must walk there alone."

This is what I come to science fiction for. That sense of wonder.

YES YES YES!

I love and adore Jason, ngl.

Bester was a great villain. I had the privilege of meeting Walter Koenig while this was still airing, around the time he'd had a cardiac event, so he was going very slow and careful around the con. Someone asked about the difference between Chekov and Bester, and he just SMILED, this evil little smile. He was so nice about it, and said he wouldn't give away details.
