The fortunes of war

I wasn't there for the siege on Sunday, but it sounds like maybe I should have been. Shin Ravenloft was unfortunately shorthanded that day, with Lunakitty, Sevenne, Lenor, Cyrus and me all having other commitments.
I'm still not sure exactly what went down, but the guild castle records state the bare, brutal facts - our fort was captured by Imperial, then Chronicles, then Trees of Light, then candies, before we managed to retake it at the end.
I did make it to Thursday's siege, which was just as hectic as the last one I attended. There was some scrambling at the start, when we were still readying our defences even as the siege began. Luckily for us, no one attacked us during those critical moments, and we managed to put up a solid defence for the rest of the siege.
There was some confusion halfway through, when the GMs broadcast an announcement apologising for technical difficulties. The announcement stated that the siege time would be extended for an extra hour. This caused some consternation, especially when the emperium disappeared as usual at the end of two hours and no one was sure whether we were finished or not. Afterwards, the GMs made another announcement stating that the problems were with the Chaos server only, and their siege would be cancelled for the day.
Also worthy of note is that one of the neighbouring castles in Prontera - Valkyrie Realms 1 - endured eight takeovers this siege, beating out our castle for the most broken emperiums ever (a new record of 35, versus our 29).
Lastly, one innovation developed for this siege was a new guild emblem for Shin Ravenloft. This was designed as a security measure to prevent emblem theft - some guilds have taken to wearing the emblems of other guilds during a siege in order to better infiltrate an enemy castle. Ah, tactics and countertactics - I'm really enjoying this.
Tomorrow is Sunday again, and another siege begins. Who knows what the day will bring?

Date: 2004-03-21 07:10 am (UTC)I wanted to see how everything was going this afternoon... but couldn't find a proxy that's fast enough to let me move around even to the flag at the central fountain. =\ I only saw Cyrus idling at the flower girl so I thought the siege time was over. Still not very sure what time it is on exactly. =\
Good to see we still have the castle! ^^
