meteordustRO. Yesterday's siege.
Once again, the plan was to help No Love get their fort back. So we gathered outside Valkyrie Realms 4, and when the siege began, we launched the attack. This time, kirbywiz was helping Gaia defend, and so were Playmates. Now, no room for hesitation or for holding back. The lines were drawn.
But Prontera, as always, is one huge chaotic brawl, and We are bawi? beat us to taking the fort. Soon enough, however, No Love took it from them. Unfortunately, they didn't hold it for long before Aeon took over, and after that Kisei got it. Finally, Gaia succeeding in grabbing it again.
At this point, Lunakitty ordered us to regroup at the flower girl in town. We were now going to Payon along with No Love, to the Fatty Chubby Kitties fort, Balder Guild 3. Once we arrived, we met up with Slaughtered Saints too. I had a few lingering concerns in my mind about who was meant to be laying claim to this fort, but I figured that was something for the guild leaders to work out, and as a hunter I'm not an emperium breaker anyway.
Payon is a tough nut to crack, largely because of the Payon Alliance and the insanely high level guilds. Fatty Chubby Kitties themselves were bad enough, but they also had the assistance of GodLike, who owned a neighbouring fort. Cataclysmos, another Payon guild and old enemies of ours, also showed up after a while.
We fought back and forth for over an hour. I died and died and died, sometimes getting as far as the emperium room, sometimes only making it just past the entrance. And I was suffering from timeout disconnects almost as often as I was dying. Not the best siege conditions ever, but it was made easier by the presence of a priest in Payon who was casting Sanctuary and Warp Portal at the save point. This meant that as soon as I died, I would reappear on top of a sanctuary, get automatically healed, and be able to step through a warp back to the Fatty Chubby Kitties fort - all within the space of fifteen seconds.
It wasn't enough, however. And with ten minutes to go until the end of the siege, Lunakitty gave the order to change our target to the GodLike fort. This seemed like a good idea to me, since it just might convince GodLike to get out of the Fatty Chubby Kitties fort and go back home.
I died in the first charge, respawned in town, and jumped a warp to what I thought was the Payon castle map. Unfortunately, it dumped me in the Prontera castle map instead, and I wasted precious minutes making my way back.
At the same time, there were reports over guild chat about the Cataclysmos fort being undefended - excited talk about how their emperium room was almost empty. There was a call to head for the Cataclysmos fort instead, which some did. But by the time I got there, the siege was over.
Some interesting things came up in the debrief. Ryuzin, who used to be in Cataclysmos, said that not only is their average level 92, but they can leave their emperium room open because they are organised enough to respond to threats in an incredibly short time. Twenty Cataclysmos might be helping at an allied fort, with only four remaining to defend their own. But Cyrus told us that a mere fifteen seconds after he was spotted in the emperium room, reinforcements had flooded back inside. He recommended them to us as an example of coordination to aspire to. Which does grate somewhat, considering our enmity with them - but I suppose good archnemeses push you to better yourself, so that you can one day defeat them.
