Heroes Season 2 speculation

Season 1 of Heroes has been awesome so far, and the big question - now that the show has been renewed - is whether Season 2 will be able to match it. Can the show pull off another storyline just as big and complex and intense?
I have watched up to the latest episode that has aired in the US, and I have no knowledge of spoilers beyond that. What follows is pure speculation.
I've been thinking about what would be big enough to hang an entire season arc on, after this. I guess the obvious story to do would be the whole "world finds out"->"prejudice and fear and persecution"->"mutants versus humans" thing. Which I guess is very X-Men, and Rising Stars, and 4400, but it's no accident that it's an eternal theme because prejudice and fear and persecution raise their ugly heads all throughout human history.
But getting back to the point, what I really want to see for Season 2 is Dark!Peter. And the other heroes having to face off against him.
Why?
1. He has an arsenal of incredible powers. He can fly. He can teleport. He can stop time. He can paint the future. He can read your thoughts. He can heal from any injury. He can turn invisible. He can move things with his mind. Let's face it, he's pretty much unstoppable. And to have all those powers concentrated in one person and *not* use them as your Big Bad would be a shameful waste.
2. No one seems concerned at Peter having accumulated all these powers. And that's because he's a nice guy, always trying to be a hero, risking his life to save others. But that would make him turning evil an even bigger dilemma for the other heroes, because, well, he's everyone's best friend (except for Isaac), and how can they stop him without killing him? Or even stop him at all?
OK, fine, so it's kind of Dark Phoenix. But I think it would be really cool. The only problem is, well, why *would* Peter turn evil? He has the means to wreak havoc but no motive, dammit. In some stories, the death of the woman he loved might have been a trigger - but under normal circumstances, people don't go on homicidal rampages, they just grieve, and the same with Peter.
The only possibility I can think of is if he was convinced of the rightness of a cause that everyone else believed was wrong. Sometimes the only difference between a hero and a villain who both believe they're making the world a better place is what they're willing to do in order to achieve their goals. And even the best of people can find themselves sliding down that path.
