Finale! Or should that be, finally! (Over, that is.)

* Thing is, I loved Monica when she was introduced. She was smart and motivated and hardworking and had a goal and a plan. And then they gave her a cool power! And then she went out to do superhero stuff! And then they had her kidnapped and made her into a terrified victim needing rescue and I'm all WTF? Actually, WTF would be a good summary of Season Two in general.

* Claire dumps West! But not for any of the myriad reasons she should have. Still, he is *gone*. However, by this time, many viewers probably are too.

* So Peter starts using his telekinesis to force open the vault door, and as he's standing there concentrating, forehead furrowed, veins popping, metal twisting and groaning, I'm thinking, "Why doesn't he just phase through the door? Why is he doing this the hard way? Unless he doesn't want Adam to know he has that ability! Aha, he doesn't trust Adam! He must have used his telepathy to read Adam's mind, and he knows Adam has been lying to him!" So when the door finally opens, and he lets Adam go through first, I'm thinking, "Ha! Now he's going to slam the door shut and lock Adam inside!" But no. None of that happened. He followed Adam because he still believed him and trusted him, and he hadn't used his phasing or his telepathy because he - or the writers - had forgotten about them. And I was left thinking, "..."

* Elle is the hero of the episode. Going off alone to confront Sylar to win back her father's love! Zapping him good with her lightning skillz! Actually, what I would love to see is Elle and Sylar on the run together, forced to cooperate, and finding their way to redemption. I can picture it already - a mix of witty repartee, hijinks, and angst. And the sparks would fly - literally! *runs away*

* I don't know what to think about the Niki thing. I cheered for her heroism, but if she dies, it's a lame ending, and if she survives, it's a cheap fakeout.

* Burying someone alive is something I cannot believe Hiro would be cruel enough to do. I can only think that he didn't know how Adam could be killed. Also, it is always a bad idea to lock the Big Bad in some unbreachable prison. Because this is going to lead to Heroes: The Next, Next Generation, where Hiro is telling his own kid, "Thirty years ago, we locked Adam away, but now he's escaped and he's killing us off one by one..."

* From the moment Nathan took the podium, I knew something bad was going to happen. Nine times out of ten, when someone on TV makes a big important speech in public, especially if that person is an inspiring leader, they're going to get shot. I should be angsting about it, since I'm quite attached to Nathan, except that, well, didn't I already see this last season? Didn't we already go through the whole "OMG! IS HE DEAD? IS HE ALIVE?" Only we had more invested in the show last time.

* Speaking of repetition, I cannot believe that after all these episodes, we end up with Sylar back exactly where he was at the end of last season. Someday, I'm going to post about the Big Epic Sylar Redemption Story that was my idea for Season Two.

Well. That's the end of Volume Two of Heroes. I'm not sure if I'll be around to post about Volume Three...
